Water running from fan unit under passenger side dash X150 2007 VIn B00087

I recently removed the glove box to fix the soft close and refitted it all fine. There was one trim fixing with a large circular head that fell out when i removed the trim under the box but i could not see where it came from or where to refit it.

Yesterday out of the blue I noticed water dripping from what I assume is a fan unit under the dash passenger side. I am thinking is this the aircon drain blocked?, or have i disturbed something when I did the glove box job?

I took the trim out and it was soaking wet and the "bowl" in the panel that covers the fan was full with water.

I came out this morning and there was water under the car that I assume is from the drain which makes me think is the drain completeley or partially blocked?

So, do you guys think it is the drain? If so is it a DIY job?, (I am reasonably handy mechanocally it is just electrics I shy away from).

Is there A Jaguar TSB for the job anyone could point me to?

What is confusing me is that water runs out from under the car suggesting the AC drain is working. (the weather has been dry here and even when we had a lot of rain i did not have this issue so assuming its not the winscreen drain?

I am assuming that it is just a coincidence that this started after I removed the glove box

You may have water under the car but the drain may still be partially blocked and is now coming out inside the car. The Jaguar recommended method for the fix is to remove the entire dash in order to replace a £4 part.
However, if you search for “duckbill repair jag x150”, you’ll find a few diy options.

I am just about to tackle the duckbill problem now I can get the car in the air.

Can anyone advise:

Is there just the one duckbill ?
If I stand under the car looking towards the rear of the vehicle which side of the transmission tunnel is the duckbill?

I have manaufactured a tool and am hoping to be able to reach and cut off the end of the duckbill as others have done/failing that it will be dropping the trnasmission as I really do not fancy the dash out approach.

Just check it's not your rainwater drains that are blocked, as per another live thread on here... Easier fix if it is!

My car is a "2007" XK 150 not an XK 100

I have been searching the threads to try and find one on the windscreen drains you refer to to but can't find it? could you post the link to the thread if you can find it please.

Just back from a 1000 mile trip from home to Scotland and the pasenger footwell is sopping wet and my wife is complaining of footrot!

Strangely though, unlike before the blower motor wasn't full of water and it appeared to be coming in even with aircon off. I am aware it could be the tank is full of water and spilling into the car especially around the windey Scottish roads but would have thought at some point it would stop when the tank dropped below a certain level?

Hi Chris,

apologies, the thread referred to the X100, completely different drain system. Easy to see if rainwater drain blocked, just pour water on the windscreen and it should come out of the drain near the rear of the wheelarch liner, also if blocked should see it pooling in windscreen scuttle area. If your A/C was off then I doubt it is from that personally. I cant actually remember what the scuttle drain looked like on my X150, but hopefully others will know. Such a pain when water is coming in...

I am assuming the collector tank is full and spilling into the car because it cannot exit the car diue to blocked drain that I assume is duckbill.

I have run a hose slowly onto the windscreen from left to right where the wipers are and no water is entering the car.

The only drains I can see are from the bottom of the screen from under the platsic corner panels that look like they go down behind wheel arch covers?

Yes they will be the rainwater drains, if they are both flowing ok then yes I guess it must be from the A/C….
