Xk 4.2 dealer servicing.

Postby garagedood » Tue Apr 25, 2017 8:19 am

Hi all.
I seem to recall reading a bit back in the mag an item about the Jaguar service plan menu for older cars.
The bit that caught my attention was that the page on the dealer computer system for my 4.2 normally aspirated XK was not immediately noticeable to the worker and had to be searched for, but not all knew this.
This resulted in people being quoted a higher price ( for the 5.0 litre or the R cars maybe) for a service plan than they needed to pay.
My last three year plan expired at last service and has become due again.
The car will be 9 this year, is still tip top, 45k miles and I have no plans to move it on so am likely to take out another 3yr plan.
Can anyone recall this item?, or does anyone know what the correct main dealer price is for a 3yr plan for the 4.2 XK?.
Cheers. GD.

Hi,

I think there is some confusion around Service plans. I had an XK8 on a two year service plan but when it came up for renewal was advised by the main dealer that, because it would be over 10 years old at renewal, renewal of the service plan was no longer an option but fixed price servicing was the way to go.

It would seem Service Plans are designed for new vehicle owners and are not intended as a Service Plan that can be extended for the life of the car and there is a car age cut off point. I may be wrong...I am going from memory.

Talk to the After Sales Manager at your local main dealer for a more authoritive opinion.

Price paid October 2104 £542.40 for 24 months (= two services)

Hope that helps
