Pairing a Samsung Galaxy Fame

One of our members, Keith Cummings, hasn't managed to post his query on the bulletin board but here it is:

"I have just purchased another Jaguar, a 2006 XK to keep my S-type company. I have managed to pair and dock in the phone, a Samsung Galaxy Fame and the phone numbers have transferred, but the associated names are corrupt (just one or two weird characters).

Has anyone else experienced this and resolved it? If so, please tell me how.

Modern phones seem to have a knack of beating me/driving me crazy, so if anyone can offer Keith good advice, I'm sure he'd be grateful. Mike.

I have exactly the same problem with my 56 plate xk but with a Samsung Galaxy A10!!
Samsung suggest it is a problem with Jaguars software - but of course at the moment Jaguar are completely uncontactable!!
Did anyone PM you with a solution?? Regards, Marcus

Sorry, Marcus. I never did get to the bottom of this and no one ever came back to me. I've since changed the phone to an LG and have exactly the same issue. It's most likely to do with Jaguar software but how to correct remains a mystery!

I have a Samsung S20 which operates without a problem in my 2015MY XKR so I'd guess that a Jaguar software update between 2006 and 2015 may have cured any problem that existed earlier. It might be worth getting a main dealer of Jaguar specialist with access to Jaguar diagnostics to check if your car's software could be updated. Mike.

I asked about this once before and they quoted silly figures. I'll try again to see if they're going to be a little more reasonable
