Re: dash camera
All the cameras that are any good need a power supply. There are many around but the better review ones appear to be E-Prance and Polaroid. I have a Polaroid C201 which is very small and did not have to do anything as it runs out of the box but it has continuous loop running, G shock filing and instant locking of files. Only had it a short time but picture quality is very good. See videos on You tube for yourself, day and night ones. It was fairly expensive as it does not come with an SD/SDHC card but quality I think is good.
You are spoilt for choice though as there are excellent cheap ones also available but not sure when you read reviews on Amazon etc.
Good hunting.
