Can anyone tell me what the Jaguar Part Numbers are for a 2004/5 front and rear suspension dampers. Mine has the CATS system.
Re: Cats Suspension
Have you looked at the Jaguar Classic parts website?

Yes, but I am not sure whether adaptive control damping is the CATS system. Do you know?
Re: Cats Suspension
Have you tried ringing the parts department of your local Jaguar dealer? They will search by VIN number. Some are reluctant to give out part numbers so you don't just go and buy the stuff elsewhere, but to be honest I would buy it from them anyway. Tell them you are a JEC member and you might wangle a 10% discount.

Re: Cats Suspension
CATS is simply the marketing term for adaptive dampers. To replace your units, like for like, you will need to supply your VIN because there are different versions. If you send me the VIN via a pm, I could attempt to reduce the number of likely options. Mike.

Re: Cats Suspension
Hi Mike, I have sent you my VIN number by PM. I have had a look at some of the suppliers of adaptive dampers and there seems to be another requirement. They have indicated that the adaptive dampers are suitable only to models with 'R Performance options'. I have no idea if this relates to my car, except mine came out of the factory with Brembo brakes and 20" wheels.

Re: Cats Suspension
Thanks again for the details and part numbers needed for my car. I just wonder how long the dampers are expected to last. The front’s have been on the car since manufacture and the rears were put on 10 years ago, having just covered 39k miles. The car has now done 75k. Any ideas?

Re: Cats Suspension
Dampers are rather like brake linings in that their lives can be very variable but they are definitely 'consumables'. These days, with the state of our roads, they have a hard life. 60k/70k miles is not at all unreasonable. However, lack of use can also play a part. Lack of use can promote corrosion on the moving surfaces, which in turn, can damage the oil seals and causes fluid leaks. Mike.

Re: Cats Suspension
Thanks Mike. The car is going into a franchised Jaguar dealer for service and mot (which I always get them to service and repair it) next month. I will ask them to check the suspension while there.

Re: Cats Suspension
All X150 XKs have a double wishbone with coilover spring, anti-roll bar and damper set-up at the front and rear. Jaguar offered its (CATS) Computer Active Technology Suspension as an option when the XK was first launched but soon made it standard across the board. To check if an XK has this suspension, look for a wire coming out of the suspension tops under the bonnet.
