Hi
I bought a centre for my montreal front wheel and wish to split the wheel down to fit it , is there a torque setting for the spline bolts and would they have to be thread locked?

Hi,
Jaguar dealers had problems splitting and rebuilding the BBS wheels so the factory stopped dealers from doing it. Unfortunately, they also withdrew any information about torque settings etc. So, despite searching, I have been unable to find any official repair information. Either you'll need to find a technician with a good memory or more likely, you'll probably have to use common sense. Beware. The bolts are prone to corrosion and snapping. Mike.

Hi DeepBlue56 ,
Spoke to a friend of mine tonight who specialises in the refurb of BBS wheels ,
he torques his up to 13NM although he did say when he spoke to the manufactures of the bolts that supplied BBS they recommended 25nm

( quite a variation!!!!),
he uses Locktite threadlock red ,
the bolts are titanium and as Mike says "The bolts are prone to corrosion and snapping" , my mate can supply new bolts if required

,
Hope this helps ,
Nik

Hi All
I fitted the new centre all the spline bolts came out ok and a couple of hefty hits with a plastic mallet removed the old centre, I cleaned up the rim and fitted new centre torqued down to 18nm and locktight in,

Hi ,
Nik's tip of the week , while you have the wheel off , put a thin bead of silicone around the wheel where the inner joins the outer (as viewed from behind) , this will stop the ingress of water and salts between the inner and outer and stop any corrosion

,
Hope this helps ,
