Replacing 17" wheels with 18" ones - are black wheels a step too far?!

Hello all,

My car came with 17" wheels that are shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres throughout - the only thing is that they're 11 years old and definitely showing their age. It's remarkable that they've made it this far I think, judging by the state of the sidewalls.

I've had a look and it seems that 18" wheels are preferable due to tyre availability and appearance, and as I'm off to an XK breakers tomorrow, I've asked what they have available.

Prices range from £350 to £550.

I'm very tempted by the black ones as they're affordable and have just been powder coated, but I'm concerned that they may look a bit much on a silver car. It does have a black leather interior though so I guess that may help somewhat.

Please do give your opinion - I'm intending to sell the car once it's complete so market research is an important consideration!!!

Black wheels i guess appeal to a younger market oldies like myself prefer good old fashioned shinny ones !! ,have 20" on my xk convertable
and they look great ,well i think so .

My daughter has black wheels on her silver mini and I have to say they look good, agree they do appeal to younger generation.

Thanks for the replies Gents - in the end I went for a compromise as I found a set of recently powder coated wheels in dark grey.

They've got good tyres on them so job done. I'll stick up a photo when I've swapped them over and put the front end of the car back together.
