Which Pirelli P zero

Hope everyone is well. I have just been searching the topics for info on P zeros and could not find info on my particular point.

I have always used p zeros and my 2005 XK8 hand book suggests Pirelli so just ordered again. They are not being fitted until 07.03.22 so have time to change order.

The question is has anyone noticed that a lot of the p zeros for sale on line state thay are for BMW or Merc etc and none mention Jag. There is a note saying can be used on other makes of car, but it leaves me wondering. Rang Pirelli who said not making for Jag!!! The local fitters do not know and now by me they do not want to take orders and direct you to the internet.

JEC and Pirelli did a recent webinar covering the topic of J tyres for Jaguars. Sounded like they're still available. That webinar might still be accessible online somewhere. Maybe Jim knows?

Hi Tim, I don't have a link to the Pirelli webinar, but I do have a suggestion. Go to the Kwik Fit website and click on the tab for 'Tyres'. Input your registration number and click 'Search'. This will bring up a comprehensive list of tyres suitable for your car. I am not suggesting you need to purchase from Kwik Fit, just that they have an incredibly easy to use website to get the information you desire. Do check that the tyre sizes and specifications match your existing tyres as the website works on the basis of what was fitted at new so if the wheels have been changed then the list may be incorrect.
If, at the time of design for the particular Jaguar model, tyre manufacturers were engaged in the development, then the tyres so produced would have a 'J' included into the sidewall pattern to signify 'Jaguar'. Other manufacturers letters can be obtained for the same 'generic' make and model of tyre i.e., the P Zero is a generic model of the Pirelli staple, but when developed for a specific model of car, there can be very subtle differences in compound and / or construction e.g. tread pattern.
Who knew there was so much technology in tyres!
Do your current tyres have a 'J' on the sidewall pattern?

Thanks for the replies,

My tyres are 245 /40 /19 on the frnt and 255 /40 / 19 on the rear.

I tried the Kwik-Fit site as I had seen the comment in a post before but for mine it justed said 18inch and then did not have the correct size for the 19inch.

I have got there in the end. I went down to the tyre branch and talked it though and went we ones approved by MBW but can be used on any car.

As always thaoughts for the inputs, good to be a member of the club.
