Rear brake discs

Postby Bootneck » Tue Oct 15, 2019 11:42 am

I’m replacing the rear discs which are past their best. Looking at various sites and MTEC they offer a range all roughly at the same cost. My present discs are plain with no drilling, grooves etc. What do other owners find to be the best. Like an opinion before I order.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
I use plain vented discs on my X308 with EBC Red Stuff brake pads, mainly to try and keep brake dust down to a minimum.
I'm the first to admit I only waft around though and don't do much spirited driving  .
The drilled, dimpled or grooved might look good on a sporty car but I'm not sure they make for better braking under normal driving conditions than the OEM set up.
There is a good variety to choose from nowadays depending on what style you want.
Here is a link to a Synopsis of a test of Cross drilled verses Non drilled braking systems:

Hope that helps a bit and good luck with your braking adventure.
Take care.
