Removing the Rear Discs from XKR

Postby paulwinter32 » Thu May 24, 2018 3:51 pm

Hello.
I am replacing discs and pads all round on my 2001 XKR, which has Brembo calipers and discs fitted. Doing the rear ones and the old discs will not come off the hubs. I have removed the calipers, used much penetrating oil and liberal use of a large rubber mallet but still no success. Please tell me there is no hidden fastener or if there is a good trick to enable me to shift these stubborn parts.
Thank you.

Have you fully released the handbrake shoes from their drum? If not, rotate the disc until the access hole between two of the wheel studs is aligned with the handbrake shoe adjuster at about the twelve o'clock position, then with a suitable screwdriver, rotate the adjuster by pushing the teeth downwards to wind the shoes away from the drum. Hopefully that will help, but sorry if you've already done all that!

Thank you Astromorg a good idea and it certainly helped. By backing the handbrake off fully and applying a large disc puller they finally popped.
