A B S light showing on dash

Hi all don't know if anyone has come across this problem .I have a 2005 xk8 and had some welding done on the underside of the car so I presume they had the battery disconnected for a long time when getting the car back I noticed the abs warning light was on but the car was driving and braking ok so am thinking it might have something to do with disconnecting the battery I have tried disconnecting leaving for about 15 min. and reconnecting but still the same has anyone any ideas

If someone has been working on the underside of the car immediately before the fault occurred, as a first step, I'd be tempted to look for physical damage to the sensor wiring. Mike.

I've just noticed your posting, hope this is of help if you still have the warning.

As in the previous reply, I'd check for visible damage to the sensors and connecting wiring, not knowing where the welding was. The warning is probably not the result of disconnecting the battery. I had the same warning, the brakes will work fine but you will not have ABS or possibly cruise control and DSC. Visibly I could see my front offside toothed rim was heavily corroded.

As I understand, the main components are the toothed rims on each wheel, the 4 x sensors and connecting wiring.

While I was getting a slow puncture sorted the engineer offered to check the fault codes. The The faulty parts on my XKR were 1 x toothed rim and 2 x sensors. The modules were operating correctly. If you can get a code reader on to your car it will give you a good indication of where the possible fault/s lie. Then have the fault code/s turned off to see if you get a recurrence.
