2014 XK Signature Wheel Size-Replacement?

Postby wgsouter » Sun Nov 10, 2024 8:52 am

Hello All,

I have just bought a 2104 XK Signature which is fitted with 20-inch wheels ... I commute to Lincolnshire where the XK is a great car, but a bit 'solid' to drive over the uneven Lincolnshire roads. It has been suggested that I might change the 20-inch wheels for 19-inch to 'soften' the ride quality, but ... ?

1. Did the Signature ever come with anything other than 20-inch wheels?
2. Would I be degrading the car by swapping for 19-inch wheels?
3. If 19-inch wheels are acceptable, anybody up for swapping with my 20-inch wheels?

Hope that I am not committing sacrilege by suggesting the afore

Many thanks

The Signature was only supplied with either Kallimnos or Takoba wheels (both 20"). To move to 19" wheels would be a departure from Jaguar's model specification. A smaller wheel with a higher profile tyre to compensate for the diameter change would only give a very slightly better ride. Assuming the car doesn't have a damping issue (the adaptive dampers fail to 'hard' if anything goes wrong), the Signature's ride on 20" wheels is considerably softer than the standard XKR's and even more so compared with the XKR-S or XKR Dynamic models. All are sports GTs, so none will have limousine quality ride characteristics. In return, their handling and cornering abilities are a lot better than their saloon counterparts. Mike.

Thank you Mike, very informative ...
I had just stumbled across a Jaguar Sales Brochure for the Signature and read that 20-inch wheels were 'standard', thus answered my own question. Will keep the 20-inch wheels as anything different would not be a standard fit - and, as you mention, probably retrograde.
Many thanks again for your reply
