Steering Cooling Hose XKR 2007 4.2 Supercharged

Postby lis.hayward255 » Wed Sep 15, 2021 11:47 am

Any ideas on how to source a new hose? My order with David Manners has been outstanding for a couple of months and the car is now undrivable. Is there a sensible workaround given we live in the UK not Saudi? I see lengths of coolant pipes available on Ebay for £6 - is it possible to remove the hose and fittings and replace with a simple pipe from the reservoir? Any comment appreciated as the summer is fading fast. Thanks in advance

I presume that you are proposing to replace your power steering hose with coolant hose; if so it is unlikely to be resistant to the PAS fluid in the long term, but you should be able to get something appropriate made up.
Not knowing where you are based, it's difficult to recommend a particular company.
I have used https://www.hosequip.co.uk/ to make up special and replacement hoses for many automotive applications. In your case they would be able to reuse your end fittings, attaching them to a suitable hose for your purposes; just tell them what it's function is.
If they are too far from you (Colchester), any hydraulic hose manufacturer should be able to do something similar, and you may be surprised at how quickly and inexpensively they will do it.
