XKR RH sill removal (2008 model)

I notice my XKR sills are ABS plastic and are held on under the car by a row of bolts. There must be more to removing them than just these bolts? Any clues appreciated.

I want to take the sill off because it is slightly scuffed and I prefer to repair it off the car

Hi Bogbrush,
The plastic sill trims are held by a large number of clips (approx 30!) plus the 7 bolts you have probably already spotted. If you remove the trims, it would be interesting to learn if the trims have protected the sills beneath or have encouraged corrosion out of sight. Mike.

Thanks for this. So if I remove the nine (?) cross head bolts along the lower edge the rest should just pull away from the body? Or is there a special knack?

I obviously dont want to damage my crowbar on the car bodywork

I would be seriously unhappy if I found any corrosion as the car has only done 3900 miles from new.

Like all trim clips, these are probably easier to put on than to remove. They need a sharp horizontal tap to remove them. The front scuff plate has to be removed and the lower door seal has to be displaced as well as extracting the 7 torx screws which result in the release of the sill cover. Naturally, removing the clips carries a risk of paint damage so initial practicing of their removal is best done on clips largely out of sight. Mike.
