Rusty rear wheel arches

Postby ozzytom » Sat Feb 25, 2012 7:26 pm

Hi guys, like some of you i am running my '98 XKR on a shoe string (that dosent exist), and the"Boss" puts the black hat on every time i start a sentence with "The Jag"!! Ha. Anyway, whats the best action to take immediately as the nearside rear arch has corroded thru (bumper side) and bubbling at other end + off side arch is not far behind !! I have just sorn the jag for March while i fit a full set of powerflex poly bushes to front suspension in readyness for motc in april (from Deamon Tweaks) and was hoping to take her off the road next winter for a full re-spray to Jaguar white or Audi white (currently Sahire blue) -hopefully fit a kitchen for someone/carpentry in exchange for bodywork/paintwork -York area?
Will she require a full wheelarch section or whats the go, -really appreciate any input, as a chippy- much to learn.Tom

Sounds a bit drastic but , might be easier to contact a breakers yard to source a couple of sound arch sections , cut out the rot in yours and weld the new sections in :?:

Hope this helps ,

Thanks Nik for your reply, yes- was thinking along those lines or may manufacture my own ( vehicle building background).
Like the possibility of widening rear end along with side skirts !
Thanks Michael- but , er- no thanks, bit negative.

Good idea Ozzy
You may need to space the rear wheels out a little if widening the rear arches , if you need some pukka spacers give me a nod , I have a friend that specialises in XK spacers :D ,

Hope this helps ,
