upgrade headlamps usa spec?

I spotted in an american film an XK8 where all three bulbs in the headlamp lit up for normal driving, whereas mine (all uk ones?) only have the teeny side lights and the dipped beam bulb. The biggest lamp is full beam only. I find dipped beam a bit pathetic in winter and nighttime (but not as bad as my XJS!) and wondered if there was an adaption to get the full beam bulb (and possibly extra wiring?) as a twin filament so it could do both dip and full - just like the american spec cars seem to. Sensibility aside, the car looked really hot with all 3 lamps lit at night!

The only thing I know off is the HID, conversion kits you can buy on e bay for around £100, this gives you a new xenon type bulb, wiring and the power packs to power them, these can be supplied for low beam or both high/low, they claim to be the same as more modern cars with the proper xenon blue lamps. I need to read into this more and may buy them for my XK8. Has anybody else fitted these yet or have feedback on them?
Dont know about all the lamps at once, the high beam would need to dip as not to blind other drivers?
