Hello.

Despite owning many Jaguars over the years, this is my first post since recently joining the club……

To go alongside my XJ6 I have been lucky enough to purchase a very low mileage XKR 2003 in Zircon blue.

The car is in lovely condition and it has what appears to be a Paramount Performance exhaust system fitted, along with this is a Paramount Performance badge replacing the Supercharged one on the nose cone. I would very much like to replace this with an original badge but before obtaining one I wondered if any of you would know if the Paramount badge has any additional fixings or holes drilled that meant the original badge would not cover them?

I have tried an internet search but cannot find any pictures of the badge on its own to clarify this. Also, is there any way of finding out if just the exhaust has been changed and does the company that supplied the modifications still exist as the current Paramount business?

Congratulations on purchasing an unusual variety of XKR. I have dealt with a couple or more of previous queries about Paramount cars and on each one, there have been issues about determining the precise specifications of the cars concerned. Records don't seem to be readily available. If you have the patience, tracking down the original owner is probably the best way of finding the original specification of the car and the extent of its modifications. As for the badge, some careful measuring of both types of badges would probably be the best way of checking that one will replace the other without exposing any extra holes, should they be present. If all else fails, modern glues can be used to replace alternative fixings. Mike.

Hello and thank you for the reply.

I do have the original owners name and address but it appears they no longer live there and neither at the subsequent address I have for them. The second owner from whom I bought the car cannot shed any light on the modifications either.

It definitely has a none standard exhaust, albeit with small tail boxes, a single piece mesh grille and a fibreglass number plate plinth, both cosmetic I assume. It is the badge which puzzles me most as why would you want to remove the supercharged one?

I will investigate the badge removal to determine if any additional holes were drilled, I think it’s the only way to find out…….

The car is currently on a non transferable registration number, HG03JAG if anyone knows anything about it, current mileage is just under 18500.

I would have thought if paramount fitted the badge the owner would have kept the original badge too, guessing you have checked for it everywhere, eg tucked away under the boot lining?

You can pick up good used ones, just had a look on autoreserve, see below, whilst out of stock at present they will email you when stock returns and in my experience it is usually within a few weeks.
