Lubrication: Convertible Hood Locking Mechanism

Postby tjnolan11 » Wed Sep 20, 2023 12:46 pm

The convertible hood on my X150 Signature creaks and groans intermittently during opening, seemingly from the locking mechanism that attaches the hood to the head of the windscreen. Is there a known procedure for lubrication of this mechanism?

Hi,
Not as far as I know, but a good squirt of WD40 or similar should help.

I have had this issue crop up intermittently with my car. I use a squirt of white grease which works for a while. Eventually, the noise returns, usually in hotter weather and another squirt solves it for a while longer. Mike.

WD40 is not a lubricant! Good for freeing thiongs up but not lubrication. Spray grease sounds much better to me.
