Hi everyone. I while back there was a great feature in the club magazine that showed someone having the wheel arches and quarter panels of their XK8 cut out and replaced. For the life of me I can’t locate the article in the online magazines and I don’t keep back copies (don’t ask!). Does anyone remember which issue it was in or better still know the location of the repairer that did it? Alternatively can anyone recommend a decent body shop in the south west that I could entrust my XK8 to?
Many thanks in eager anticipation.
Gavin

Hi Gavin, try the February 2022 magazine for one of the repair articles relating to the XK8 X-100 model. It is online but if you have problems accessing it, if you PM me your email address I can email you a copy of the article.

Hi Jim. That’s the article I was trying to locate. Thanks ever so much. Hopefully they’ll be able to resurrect my rusty X100 without it costing me as much as an F-Type!Hi Gavin, try the February 2022 magazine for one of the repair articles relating to the XK8 X-100 model. Hi Gavin, no problem, you might also want to review the article in the September 2018 Modern XK column as that also covered some aspects of tin worm attack.

Njrestorations ltd. South Wales based but they do pick up the car for you. Obviously at cost.
I have my xjc there and they are doing a thorough job. I think they have just started a xkr with similar issues

Thanks for the recommendation. South Wales is not too far - I’m only about 20 miles from the newer Severn Bridge. I’ll give them a call at some point this week.Njrestorations ltd. South Wales based but they do pick up the car for you. Obviously at cost.

I bet you can't wait to drive it again. I think the XJC is the nicest looking Jaguar ever made. As rare as rocking horse stuff! It’s taken a while, what with being made redundant, covid shutdowns, new job, other life stuff lol nearly 5 years but not far now.Crumbs - that is a deep restoration!

It would be nice to drive it again. Nearly 10 years since last driven. It was close to being sold as a project, but in the end I found somewhere to price up the work and that was in 2018. I did all the mechanical rebuilds and upgrades on the engine and axles. Which saved money for some upgrade parts otherwise expensive. Fuels tanks I went back to boot mounted fuel pumps for ease of maintenance. Outboard rear disc axle. Front and rear anti-roll bars. Manual gearbox, limited slip diff, engine is a series 3 block and injection big valve head with 3 carburettors and inlet manifold from a Jag 420G. I personally think it has a good spec now which counter acts the lack of factory originality.I bet you can't wait to drive it again. I think the XJC is the nicest looking Jaguar ever made. Interior will be next. I haven’t chosen a colour for that yet. That will be done by myself also. I’ll add some tuck and roll details to the doorcards that matches the seat design. I have some good vintage upgrade audio to fit as well. The rear parcel shelf has already been modified including the drain panel under it so I can port some high quality bass notes into the cabin from a boot mounted subwoofer. All hidden of course.
Seats I have the option of xjs fronts or series 3 front and rear headrests with front seat lumbar adjustment incorporated into the flip forward front seats either in the original series two cover design, series 3 cover design or use the Bentley double stitch diamond. So a fair few options still to consider.
