Hi all,
Does anyone have experience of fitting rear parking sensors to a 1998 XK8? I recently fitted a set to my daughter’s 10 year old Mini and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was, did not even need to remove the bumper! I am tempted to try on my XK8 but not sure if it will be so easy?

Scrub that question, on further inspection going to fit a camera instead, looks pretty simple, will post pics once done.

Hi Andy,
Some interesting articles in the Modern XK column you may like to look up, the digital back catalogue is on this website:
January 2020 - fitting parking sensors to an X-100
September 2020 - updating the Satnav in the X-100
March 2021 - fitting a reversing camera in the X-100, after upgrading the Satnav as above
Cheers

Re: Fitting rear parking sensors
The article relates to front parking sensors, after some research I am going for a rear camera, will write it up for the magazine once fitted.

Cheers Andy,
An article for the column would be much appreciated.
Incidentally though, the aftermarket parking sensors are suitable for front or rear - in Ron's case, I think he had rear parking sensors already fitted to his car so only needed to fit to the front.

Ah yes, makes sense. I don’t want to eliminate all the risk from my life though

Re: Fitting rear parking sensors
Hi Andy,
In case you change your mind about fitting rear sensors, I can confirm that it was an easy task when I fitted some, many years ago. The most difficult bit was removing and cutting the rear bumper holes.
Mike.

Re: Fitting rear parking sensors
Even easier than cutting rear bumpers is to fit a rear numberplate frame with sensors set at slight angles. i think mines called Parkmate , but different ones on Google search for about £50. Work well for me.
Re: Fitting rear parking sensors
Thanks for the tip David.
Could be quite a good alternative to drilling holes.
Take care.
