Hello, presume that wing mirrors are correct for this index?
I have just bought a 2014 XK8 Signature and discovered (after activating the wing mirror auto fold) that the body of the passenger wing mirror doesn't ... the motor is heard running but the mirror does not move (fold by itself) - I can pivot the mirror by hand with no resistance felt and, whilst the motor is running, get the odd momentary engagement. If the mirror fold operates on a toothed gear, it feels as if the teeth are mostly stripped or the fold mechanism is broken.
Can these be repaired without removing the wing mirror from the car? If so, how? Any detailed instructions?
Any advice and/or assistance would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

The mirror glass is removed by pivoting the glass outer edge rearwards and upwards before pulling it by hand from its clips. Remember that the glass also has electrical connectors on its rear face. The wing mirror cover can be removed by careful prising using plastic tools. At this stage, you will have the best view of the mirror motors etc. If necessary (and it probably is) removing the mirror completely involves taking off the door trim and releasing three fixings plus the two electrical connectors and some wiring clips. Mike.

It may be that it may need cleaning inside the housing
There are a number of videos on how to iit.
Quite a common problem in Jaguar and Land Rover circles.
Let us know how you get on please

Hello All,
Removed cover but fold mechanism seems to be inside the arm attaching mirror to door - looks like I will need to remove the mirror, thus, probably need to replace as a unit ...
Many thanks
