Rear Bumper Beam Replacement

Postby MarkP » Mon May 29, 2017 4:20 pm

I have the bumper off the car and the previous owner clearly had been hit up the back and the bumper beam is split and has had a metal plate riveted on holding both sides. How do you get the plastic rivets off? Do you cut them and search somewhere for replacements (not mentioned anywhere as a spare), are they generic rivets. Also the two metal straps are riveted with a large rivet, what size is this and where can it be obtained from? Any answers greatly appreciated.

Neglecting the fixings to the car, the bumper was supplied as two parts, the bumper beam plus the outer cover attached by 7 plastic rivets and the two outer cover support straps which were riveted in position using commonly available pop rivets. The plastic rivets were part number KRA616001. It would be worth asking if they are still available before risking damaging the existing items. Mike.
