paint codes

Hi everyone
Can anyone tell me the code or colour name of the grey trim around the windows of my 2000 reg. I saw this a while back but can not find it now.

Hi Bill ,
It's called Dorchester Grey and the code is LDP/342 ,
if you can't find the base coat in a Jaguar paint use Rover Dorchester Grey , the codes the same LDP/342 , any problems in getting it you can always PM me

I will give it a go. The car looks quite good apart from the paint peeling on the front screen trim it should make an improvement

Hi Bill ,
The peeling and blistering is caused by the lack of etch primer on the alloy sections , rubbing down , careful masking , etch prime , base coat and clear lacquer should sort it , any problems give me a shout and I'll talk you through the process , here is a brief synopsis of the work I did to mine a while ago

Nasty blister


Mask and rub down


Etch prime followed by grey primer


Flat primer and base coat


Hi grade lacquer


De-mask and polish

Passing over the above body bits........it's worth noting that when newspapers are printed they often have rows of very small holes punched in them near to the edge of the page, presumably to help the newsprint along the tracks.

If you happen to use a piece with said holes as masking you will not be very happy when you peel it away, I know from bitter experience!

Very true Tony , newspaper isn't a replacement for proper masking paper , I now have a very large and wide roll of proper paint shop masking paper , the use of newspaper was pure laziness on my part , I've now moved the masking paper to an accessible part of my workshop
The newspaper now goes into the paper collection for recycling
