Hi all
I recently successfully removed the 'chrome' sill plates on the XK8 to remove the carpet etc. Now, after a couple of months they are starting to lift a little. Does anybody know what type of adhesive was used so that I can reapply/remove the plates using a heat gun?
Many thanks in advance
Kevin
Sill trim plate adhesive?

Re: Sill trim plate adhesive?
Can`t answer this directly, but I`ve used double sided 3M or alternative tape successfully on many similar items on my car. Otherwise known as number plate tape and easily obtainable from High Street motoring stores or other usual outlets.
It sticks like the proverbial and provides an easy, clean answer to many sticky car problems. such as lifting trim, badges, spoilers, broken door mirrors etc.

Re: Sill trim plate adhesive?
Hi Kev ,
Coincidently I've just purchased a new tread plate insert from Jaguar , the correct adhesive strip is indeed made by 3M and it's called 300LSE , it's very thin so that the stainless plate is flush with the aluminium tread plate itself ,
Hope this helps ,
Nik
