badge removal, rear reg plinth and rust spot treatment
Moderators:MarkX, mike020150
i have just bought a xkr 1999 and need to do a few jobs to get it in tip top condition, one is replace the jaguar and xkr badges as they are a bit flakey, two the rear reg mounting is rusty and needs replacing, three there is a rear arch rust bubble which needs treating as it has flaked off, it is on the sill and can only be seen looking up, i have got parts and paint kit on order from jaguar so i just need some advice on fitting/treating. many thanks.
Mick
I had a rusty number plate plinth when I purchased mine. Got hold of a new one from the main dealer (one of their cheaper parts) and then very carefully drilled out the four rivets that held on the old one (two near top edge, two at bottom). Also took the time to rub down, treat and recoat where rust had got in on some of number plate screw holes, yes a fresh set of holes for each time the car had been sold. Putting the new plinth in place was very easy with the four rivets in place very quickly.
Alas have not done anything on badges as mine still look splendid.
Hope this helps
