Hi I am considering changing the timing chains on my xk8 myself - I have done the top tensioners on it before but did not change the chains - it is now time to do it properly
Can someone who has done the job tell me if it is necessary to remove the radiator or can you do it with just the fans removed as this will make life a lot easier
Thanks
Ian

Re: Timing chain replacement
The standard Jaguar procedure assumes the timing cover can be wriggled free without removing the rad etc. it probably depends more upon you, how much room you'd like to have to complete the tasks and whether you have the luxury of a lift to make life easier. Mike.

Thanks Mike
I have had another look at it and I think there is plenty of room if you just remove the fans - the only issue I can see might be around the puller for the crank pulley - but there still seems to be a lot of room.
I have a lift so that makes life loads easier as you say.
Cheers

Re: Timing chain replacement
This post peaked my interest being a Jaguar V8 owner.
The puller is shown here in this link and is the lowest priced unit I can find. It fits both 4litre and 4.2 engines.
