XKR rev limiting

OK Daft question. My XKR (1999) is about to hit the road. I havent run it 'in motion' yet, but in the garage running with it in 'Park', the engine hits a limiter at around 3000 rpm, and wont rev beyond that. Is this a normal failsafe that will disappear when I take it on the road, or might there be a problem (my S type R doesnt do this, and there are no warning messages on the dash display in the XKR)
Help !
Howard.

Hi there Howard,
No, this is normal I believe,
My 02' XKR only revs to 3k when stood still.
Kindest regards,
Chris

Hi Howard ,
Yes Chris is correct , it's normal , it's stops the engine from going pop through over supercharging

God bless you ! I've just spent almost 2k on new chains etc. to get the car running (bought as a non-runner) so you'll understand how worried I was !
My wife and I LOVE the car -cant wait to put it on the road (hopefully tomorrow) and start testing it out after its rebuild.
What can I say -best forum I've ever been on (and I'm an old fart so have known a few...)
