Perhaps take some advice on whether there is a policy around which you can call on if your were ever to find yourself wishing to sue for a traders negligence. may be ask a specialist insurance broker? Did Arun not have a professional negligence policy in force themselves? If this had been my case, i would have been asking for a court ruling to state you had suffered damages and then gone for Arun via their policy. To make a claim against a third party, they must be proved to have been negligent.

I have not put a post on for a while so as I have a few minuets I thought I would do that now.

The Daimler 250 v8 is not yet back on the road but has made some progress with the brakes being re-built completely with new servo as well. I have not bought another XKR and am not sure if I will. I am however thinking of selling my classics to pay for an Etype jag as this is what I have always fancied.
I have a Bentley T1, Austin a35, MGBGT, Rover p5 v8 coup and the Daimler MK2 to sell so should be able to get a series 111

Hi

I have decided not to get another XK, for now anyway! I have however bough a 2011 XJ and what a car it is, fantastic !!
It is the 3.0 twin turbo diesel premium luxury in metallic grey, a great driving car with loads of space if needed.
The pick up from start is quit amazing for such a big car and a diesel, you would never know it was a diesel. I am very pleased with the car and will be continuing in my long long relationship with Jaguars.

If you are reading this then you have probably read the previous posts about Arun and also about the fact that the insurance legal policy will not help you get your out of pocket expenses back unless you have had a RTA, well something else has come up which I did not know about and I think should be looked into.
I have just gone to Footman James to get a quote for my new Jag a 2011 XJ, they say they insure modern and classic Jags, well this is not actually quite true !!
I asked for a quote for my car only to be told they will not insure your modern Jaguar unless you have an existing policy on a classic car with them !!!
I had my XKR insured with them for years so am at a complete loss as to what they are on about !!!
Why have they changed their insurance criteria !!

Hello Vince.

I bought my 2003 XKR from Arun in June 2015 with what was supposed to be a new MOT certificate. However, the car soon developed an ABS fault that they were supposed to have rectified when I returned the car for repair. I was also told the front offside wheel sensor cable needed replacing which I duly did. This did not rectify the error code and the advice from the service manager at the time was that I needed to get it turned off.

I then took the car to a more local well respected Jaguar dealer where, along with other items, 5 front end suspension bushes were replaced. They also found both offside wheel sensors faulty, so much for Arun's new replacement.

I am pleased I own the car, it gets many complements and is a good Jaguar Racing Green example. I've spent a while bringing the electrics to full working order, replacing faulty modules etc.

The end of the story at Arun is that the service manager was replaced a while ago but no hint of any compensation for the bush failures or laughable ABS problem repair after 2,800 miles from that initial Arun MOT test.

I noticed your postings while looking for advice on replacing an oxygen sensor, looks interesting!

Sorry to hear you have had some bad dealings with Arun, it seems to confirm my experience with them was not a one off and that there customer care falls far short of what it should be.
What they did to me was basically "conspiracy to commit a fraud", if I was not a bit clued up about cars they may well have got me to pay £8000 for the engine to be replaced !!
I hope the old saying "what goes around comes around" is true because they should get what they deserve.

I forgot to mention that I sold my 2011 XJ 3.0 D, WHY I hear you say, well, in the end I just could not get on with the diesel engine, great though it is it just did not sound right to me in a Jaguar, so what did I do ? I bought a 2004 XJR and I LOVE it, what a great car, everything a jag should be, Grace Space and loads of Pace, plus a fantastic V8 growl.

Welcome to the X350 Forum, Vince. Great to hear from you again.

The XJR 4.2 is a wonderful car. I find mine totally engauging, especially now I have it sorted to my own spec. Two years after buying it, it still exites everytime I drive it. A top draw, well engineered car with resonably priced parts and user friendly maintenance possibilities.

Glad you found a car to suit. Its been a flog for you.

Crikey !! that's a lot of mods, how much more horses do you get and is the difference noticeable?

Much more responsive but still just as docile at low revs. For rapid overtaking or joining a motorway, the car is just ballistic. That places you very much in control. Fuel economy unaffected except when you put your foot down.

Viezu Berkshire/Gerald Morton estimate the car to be at around 580BHP but yet to be confirmed by rolling road test. Power delivery can be gentle and controlable or totally brutal. Driving remains refined but the car has much longer legs than it had in original spec. A great car for long distance work and I`m not in a hurry to change it.

Your car sounds fantastic, you say fuel economy is not effected, I went to Leicester a month back and averaged 34.4 MPG, I think that is fantastic for a car with the amount of power it has on tap, whats your average?
