2001 XKR Lacking Power

I had forgotten about the gearbox having to learn again. I'll give it a run up to Kemble next weekend and see how it settles in.
It has been a while trying to figure this one out but it is hugely satisfying when you crack it!
As for mods Mike, as you know I already have an uprated inter cooler radiator and pump. I will think about the supercharger pulley.
In the meantime, there will be a long list of jobs to work through of things that aren't working such as the aircon, radio and sat nav, cruise control and that's just the things I've noted so far!
As I said, it's now a rolling restoration

I've been doing some background reading.
The Transmission control module stores error codes (DTCs) and adaptive values in non-volatile memory so in theory it should remember when power is disconnected. I wonder how long that lasts?
I did learn something new. My car has 2 reverse gears! It has a lower ratio in sports mode apparently. Only applies to the XKR and XJR 4.0 with the Mercedes gearbox.

More progress today.
I found that sports mode wasn't working so investigated. I had a spare switch so put it in and it now works! Another one off the list.
I didn't think the cruise control was working either so I tried another switch for that and now it does.
I had to take the radio out to get the serial number so I could use one of the online services to get the code. This means taking the centre console out which is a bit of a pain but doesn't take too long. Care has to be taken when removing the gear lever surround not to break the plastic tabs. An old credit card is the key. I'm pleased to say that worked and now my stereo and satnav are working.
I also put all the boot components back together.
That left a bit of time for some tlc so I have the car a good wash, polish and wax. Didn't she come up well?

I also sat myself down and made a list of all the remaining jobs of which there are many!

She's looking good. The lessons for us all from this lengthy tale are: 1) don't assume anything is OK unless you have double checked it and 2) that XKs are such great cars to drive, the pain getting there is worth it! Mike.

I took the car up to the Kemble Breakfast meeting this morning and she went very well.
The gearbox has sharpened up as its re-learnt its job and it really flies in sports mode but only to the legal limit (honest officer! )
I've amused myself by setting the sat nav. It was like a trip down memory lane as it asked me to negotiate roundabouts on the A419 that were removed probably 20 years ago!
So the good news is that the car has acquitted itself well on a 100 mile round trip today.
Now there are only all the other little jobs to do!
