Xkr 4.0 engine rebuild

Postby skeltz » Sat Aug 10, 2019 12:32 pm

Can anyone advise where I can get replacement piston rings for my 98 xkr fitted with a replacement steel lined engine fitted ? I have been supplied with part no jlm20929 but the oil control ring is to wide to fit the piston. I do have from the original nikasil engine a damaged piston that the supplied jlm20929 does fit so my steel lined engine must have a different part no but British parts say they don’t list any others ?

SNG Barratt list two different ones for the 4.0 XKR; The part number you have, (for earlier engines) and this one - (from engine: 0008180854) JLM21635.

Giving them a ring may be your best bet.

Apparently 3 different types of piston rings used 1 type for nickasil & 2 types for steel lined the ever helpful cfs motors Coventry identified & supplied the correct rings now running beautifully .
