All the online guides I have seen are based on extracts from the Jaguar workshop manual so it's unlikely you will find a Haynes-style manual. Perhaps if you reduce your generalised query to a few specifics, members may be able to offer practical advice from their experiences. Mike.

Hi I used the JTIS manual also acquired a publication called "Jaguar XK8 A modern sporting icon" published by Kelsey Publishing which pulled together lots of articles from Jaguar world magazine including doing the timing chains.

I changed top and bottom chains and with that info and the web didn't find it too hard.

Important thing was to get the right tools which hired from JEC to lock things up, although if doing just top it is often done using cable ties to lock things, plenty of explanations on the web.

Hope this helps
