XK8 Sat Nav 2005

Just viewed a nice low mileage XK 4.2
Only prob is that the Sat Nav just doesnt work.
I pressed the button to eject the sat nav disc but nothing happens and the screen will only show the clock.
At first I thought it was a missing disc but then surely the system would ask for the disc if not present?
This leads me to think it is a dud sat-nav.
Any ideas---fixes,costs etc.

The XK8 satnav is an Alpine system which is now obsolete and the "brains" is a modified CD player in the boot.
Usually the laser reader in the unit goes faulty and needs to be replaced.
This is a specialist job, and the place to go,if your unit is diagnosed faulty, is the company who grew from original Alpine Repair Center.
They are now known as DTRONIX and are based in Milton Keynes.
If the components are still available they will repair and overhaul the unit and provide a warranty.
