Can you Stop Parking Sensor 'BeeP' 'Beep'

Have just had two V good days with my new 2002 XKR convertable.. Marvelous..
Except the rear parking sensors Beep / Beep sound as soon as reverse is slected, is that correct ? it is driving me mad... too stressful especially as i am manoeuvring out the pub car park.... I like to leave quietly
Can you stop / disconnect this alarm..?

Hi Clive,
They should only beep when you actually get close to an obstruction. Make sure the sensors are completely clean and then try again.

This is likely to be the "sensor failure warning tone" which indicates that a parking sensor is not working. I had the same problem.
To test the sensors........
Make sure the car cannot move (apply handbrake and/or chock the wheels)
Then turn on the ignition without starting the engine..
Select reverse gear.
Put your ear close to each sensor in turn.
You should hear a steady tick, tick, tick noise directly from the sensors.
The faulty one(s) will be silent.
Its a bit of a fiddle but the sensors can be removed by a push and twist from behind without removing the bumper.
Its a good idea to check the connector and wiring before assuming the sensor itself is faulty, but if this is the case replacement sensors are available from the usual sources.
They will be in primer and will need to be painted to match your body colour.
