Windows (passanger)

Postby wad10 » Mon Dec 07, 2009 12:20 pm

My passanger window will not drop to close door. I have reset but when you pull the handle to open the door the window drops a little as supposed to do.When you release the handle the window goes back up to fully closed before door closed. As said I have reset but it keeps hapening. Have to open window to close door then close window! Any ideas rather than reset which as said is not working. Is it the motor!

when you say you have reset the windows I assume you mean that you have gone through the procedure of moving the window up and down and waiting for the click while the up/down switch is depressed.

If that is the case I would suggest you do a hard system reset, ie disconnect the battery for minute or so and do another windows reset again. NB: make a note of your radio code first as this will be lost by a hard system reset.

That simple procedure, although certainly no guarantee that it will cure the problem, often works well in all kinds of situation.

Let us know how you get on Good luck.

This sounds like the microswitch in the door lock. On some XK's you can replace the switch on the rest it's a new lock! Your friendly dealer will tell you from the VIN if you are one of the lucky ones

sounds like i have the opposite problem, ie, the window drops to open door, but does not go up when you close it, would this be a micro switch problem as well?

I would try the hard-reset (battery disconnect-reconnect) method first.
How old is your battery?? this could be a tired battery.
These cars are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.
Good luck.
