While driving on the M25 this weekend the engine cut out without warning - pretty bloody scary. Managed to get it to the hard shoulder without causing a major accident. Initially no respsonse when I tried to start it - just the usual warning lights, waited a few minutes and it started a drove quite normally.
It did it a gurther 3 times before I could get off the motorway and then was fine for the rest of the weekend.
Just tried to start it but no response from the engine apart form the usual illuminations on ther dash plus a text warning saying INCORRECT PART FITTED - anybody got any ideas !!!

Hi Martin,
Unfortunately, cutting out can be caused by a wide variety of faults ranging from the inexpensive, like a dirty throttle body or blocked fuel filter to the very expensive. The only practical way forward is to hook the car up to either the Jaguar diagnostics or the Autologics system and work through the results logically. Best of luck. Mike.

Engine cutting-out

Raj,
Thanks for the info. The problem I have been having is slightly different in that I don't get a total electrical failure - just a fail to start or a cut-out at any speed. When this happens the engine will not crank but will then burst into life.
I booked the car into my local franchised dealer in Burnham who had the car for two days, could'y find the fault and charged me £700-00 for the privelige ! (never again)
I finally took it into Chiltern who suppled the car. They kept it for a few days, the fault to one of the fuse/relay boxes under the bonnet, supplied a used replacement for £55-00, fitted it and guess what, no more problems. I will let you know which one it was when I have had a chance to take a look.
