Windows don't return to the up position

Postby ronnie2507 » Wed Dec 31, 2008 5:24 pm

i have a 2001 xkr , recently thewindos on both the nearside and offside have not been returning to the up position when the door is closed.
Initially it just seemed to be the offside however now neither return,
Not so much a problem when entering the car as you are able o put the windoback to the up position from the inside switch , however when leaving the car, it means the window is open albeit a fraction.

any ideas anyone?

Ronnie, this is a regular problem, often caused by the battery becoming just a little bit drained. This causes the windows to lose their 'memory'. The fix is very simple..

Hold the switch in the down position until the window is all the way to the bottom AND don't release the switch until you hear a faint click (usually a second or two after the window is fully down). Next, hold the switch in the up position again till the window is fully up and keep it held there until you hear the click again. Hey presto... job done. Now repeat for the other door.
