KEY FOB

I have just changed the batteries in my two Key Fobs originally neither would work. Main Dealer had a look and said fobs have probably gone, I knew better than to take their word for it and found the answer on this Bulletin Board. Bassman had posted instructions on how to reprogram the fob. It has worked a treat. The only thing being that I have to be right by the window and point the fob at the J-Gate. Is there another sensor somewhere that might have got dirt on it or similar?

I think the receiving arial for the remote is at the top of the rear window, it looks like a seperate part of the heater

In defense of the dealer key fobs can pick up static electricity from pockets/bags etc this can corrupt the signal coming from the fob and change the coding the fob then needs to be programmed back to the vehicle. The only way to cure this problem permantly is to replace the fob.

Thanks for info guys. I still have to point key fob at J-Gate or directly at aerial on rear window. This applies to both fobs, but I can live with it for the moment.
