XKR ELECTRICAL IGNITION FAULT

This is from the engine forum now moving to electrics.
I have an XKR made in 1997 with a new engine fitted in 2003 it will not start . The car had been in my garage for two weeks it started then died away . It now will not start it turns over ok there is fuel but no electrics to the ignition the coils have no power to them , there is power to the fuse which is ok and there are no error messages . The cut out switch is ok as are all the fuses and relays. The fuel pump is ok .

Hi, I had a similar proplem with my 98 XK8, It started then just died not a
sudden cut out, after visiting this forum. I was able to find a double fault.
First fault was electical connection on the back of the throttle body, I took it apart cleaned connections and re asembled it, still not starting?
Next thing to check was the relays which give power to engine management system, theese are hidden away in the engine bay n/side
under the black plastic cover, the two small black sleeve covers will reveal the relays, as soon as I lifted theese sleeves it was easy to see the proplem two of the relays were loose one almost dancing around, after lifting out and cleaning the pins I replaced
them back in the same places as removal. Put ignition key in and turned
to start engine, hey presto the sound of 8 cyl engine purring away.
To end this story the car has never failed since. Hope this maybe of help
to anybody who suffers the same proplem.
