2014 XK Signature Main Battery Replacement?

Postby wgsouter » Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:26 pm

Hello all,

I have just purchased a 2014 XK Signature (great) but which has quickly developed some electrical gremlins ... with the Ignition 'on', the Infotainment Display is telling me that the battery voltage is low and that the display will shut down in 3 minutes - it actually then shuts down circa 30 seconds later and will not switch back on again until after the engine has started. Suggestive that the battery needs replacing? I also have a problem with the Infotainment System (SatNav) shutting down all by itself and restarting circa 2 minutes after engine start and then shutting down again and restarting about 5-10 minutes after that - doesn't do it again for the rest of my journey - when I restart the engine this cycle then repeats??? Any clues why? Linked to the battery??

Okay, on the assumption that I should replace the original Jaguar battery, I have become confused by the numerous websites showing batteries that purport to fit my vehicle (by registration), which are either 175mm tall or 190mm tall??

So my simple question is: how tall or which battery should I fit?

Presume also that a standard lead acid battery is fine? Or should I splash out more money on an AGM?

Many thanks in advance for any responses.

Thanks Poprivet,

However, this still does not answer my fundamental question concerning battery height - or whether it makes a difference? That Tanya site shows batteries (against my registration) that are 175mm tall and 190mm tall .... I would not wish to buy a taller (190mm) Battery to then find that I cannot then refit the boot liner.

So, fundamentally, does the 019 (190mm tall) battery fit under the boot liner? Or, is the 017 (175mm tall the correct height?

Many thanks and apologies for being so pedantic about this.

I fitted a Varta 019 battery from Tayna fitted to my 2014 XKR convertible without any height issues. The extra amp hour capacity is a wise investment on these cars, especially if they are not daily drivers. Mike.

Thank you Mike,
I was a little concerned that the 190mm height might cause me an issue, but was also focussed on the additional capacity a taller battery would provide - yes, not a daily runner so extra capacity an important consideration for me.
Just bought a 100Ah Exide from 'carbatterymarket' who were slightly cheaper than 'tayna' ...
Complete coincidence that JEC Magazine Issue 478 contains a step-by-step article on how to change an XK battery - my job for next weekend.
Many thanks again
