2007 jaguar xk ariel sticking

Hello

My 2007 jaguar xk ariel is sticking at points , it makes it up and down but sticks , motor working but just seems stuck

Anything I can do to free it up

Over time the outside surfaces of the aerial become "sticky" with road detritus and this causes the erratic motion. With the aerial fully up, use a mild metal cleaner to gently clean the outer surfaces and then once you have wiped that off, cover with a fine film of wax, same as you would use on the paintwork. Buff that off and try the operation. If still sticky, then place a "very" small amount of fine grease - Molykote or similar - on your fingertips and massage that in to the surface of the aerial, especially around the section changes and then wipe clean with a lint free cloth or paper towel. Try the operation and it should be fine. Repeat annually as a minimum.

Sprayed mine with WD40 silicon spray. Has worked fine after that so far.
