I bought the car through a dealer a few months ago. The dealer fixed everything except this. A part is on order from Jaguar but a learned friend thinks it will never return to stock. (part number C2P11473)
I can do without CC obviously, but the fault constantly on the dash is annoying and it would be just 'nice' to fix everything.
So my questions (in order) are ;
Where is the damn thing ...!?
Is there a way of simply turning the fault on the dash off?
How do i know it is the part that is faulty and not a loose connection / sensor etc?
Does anyone know of a possible second hand source from a breaker or some such and likely price?
Anything I would need to know if I do get a replacement and have a go at fitting it myself? I am hoping it is 'just' plug in and what could possibly go wrong .....
Many thanks
Steve

Hi Steve, can't help with the first 3 questions, but in terms of a used part try Eurojag / SNG Barratt or autoreserve.

Re: Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006
Tried a few searches for that part number and turned nothing up. I have a feeling that it may be the radar module that is located in the front bumper. I recall reading some while back that there were lots of problems with failures due to water ingress and that Jaguar were not able to get replacements manufactured at a reasonable price so were quietly ignoring the problem as it was a fairly uncommon option due to the cost on either the XK or XJ. I suggest you find a someone (possibly a Jaguar main dealer) that has access to the full diagnostic tools and see if they can get the adaptive cruise part de-programmed without spoiling normal cruise. That should at least turn the light off!

Re: Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006
I had mine go on my saloon and got hold of a second hand one from Ebay. It was off a Range Rover sport, but exactly the same module. That was 3 years ago and its OK at the moment. They do suffer from water ingress so there will be less and less working ones of them around. I think I remember seeing somewhere instructions to take then apart and fix the problem. As yet, I haven't got around to it.
It was listed as part number: 4R83-9G768-AA. Fairly easy to swap out.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the reply,
Are you talking about the sensor or the controller? I recently got the following back from the dealer I bought the car from ..
No sorry we are talking about the control module not the radar, that is the problem because they can not be fitted from another car, due to being programmed with the cars VIN. Unfortunately we have Jaguar SDD which does not allow for programming away from standard. I’m not sure if there is anything else that would do it, but there may be.
Since they cant supply any diagnostic codes I'm not sure they really know what is wrong ...!

It will help members with that issue in the future as well.
Thank you

Re: Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006
Doing some more digging on this I came across the following on another Jag forum. It includes some pictures.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk-x ... it-193934/
The part does look exactly like the Range Rover Sport part that is available on ebay EG https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225031669002 ... R7LYucfjYA
The picture in the other forum shows that you have to take the XK bumper off to fit it.
That appears to be a massive faff! http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/crzyd ... bumper.pdf
So it may simply be not worth the effort!

Those prices on eBay are amazingly cheap compared to a new Jaguar part (if it was even available!) so worth a punt to try one. I would suggest that before you go to all the bother of taking the front bumper off, see if you can get a hand up behind the bumper to the radar unit connector. If you can then plug in the one from eBay and see if it cures the warning lamp problem and does not throw up any other new errors. You might have to do a "hard reset" before if recognises the new module or if that does not work then find a dealer with the SDD software to get it integrated with the car. If that's all good then I'd think about the gut ache of taking the bumper off!

Re: Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006
Finally got round to starting to look at this. Having seen some pictures of crashed XK's with the bumper off it looks like this unit sits in the centre of the cross member that the top of the radiator attaches to. I think its much to high to be got at from underneath with bumper on. However it must be under the black plastic cover that bridges from the top of the radiator to the bumper at the front of the engine bay. This appears to be held down by about 20 small black screws so I thought it would be relatively easy to take this off and have a look .... But most of these 'screws' just spin in place. Neither tighten or untighten. Two came out and they are flat ended like little bolts. The cover itself must be clipped down somehow and the 'screws' just locating it? Is there a trick to getting the 'screws' out and cover off ?Those prices on eBay are amazingly cheap compared to a new Jaguar part (if it was even available!) so worth a punt to try one. Re: Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006
I suspect the 'screws' are what Jaguar calls 'plastic rivets'. When fitted, the centre portion (the screw) expands the lower section to hold it and the radiator shroud in position. After being warm for a few years, the lower sections have probably adopted a 'set' such that they are now reluctant to resume their unsplayed shape. Remove the centre 'screws', then lever up the lower sections to release the shroud. not all of these plastic fixings are available from Jaguar so you may have to shop around on ebay to find suitable replacements for those you break. it will be interesting to learn if you can reach the adaptive cruise sensor after removing the shroud. Re: Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006
Progress! With your advice and a video tip from the internet I've removed half the 'Scrivets' as one internet site called them. Although they have pozidrive type screw heads and are sort of threaded they basically just push in and pull out (now they are old at anyrate). There are a couple where the thread 'caught' but mostly not. To remove the rest I got a metal tapping screw and screwed it into top of the plastic Scrivet. I could then just pull them out using the metal screw to hold on to. Then with thin nose pliers I pulled the lower bit through. You were right that they are all splayed and have lost their springiness. I've taken out 8 of 15. I'm going to get some new ones from tinterweb before I remove the rest so I have something decent to fix back in.I suspect the 'screws' are what Jaguar calls 'plastic rivets'. If you are looking for a comprehensive insight into the removal and reinstatement of the nose cone on your X-150, you can refer to the March 2018 magazine, digital copy available online at this website, and the Modern XK column. See page 63 of said magazine, although the digital page counter will tell you it is page 65.

Re: Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006
Having finally got round to getting the Radiator cover off I can report that the ACC module cannot be accessed this way.
One can see the back of it... it is on the forward crossmember that the bumper is attached to so is a 'Bumper off' job. No connections or bolts can be accessed from the back. I doubt you could do it from below either as you would still be looking at the back.
I will have to ask Swallows when it goes in for service and MOT next spring if they can fiddle with software to set the car back to standard CC. Otherwise will just have to live with the dashboard error I guess!

I see SNG Barrat has Adaptive Cruise Control under 'information systems and controls' https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#/uk ... mbly/31941
But not just 'ordinary' Cruise control. Was it 'adaptive' or nothing when it first came out?
