My boot button to 'open' has died....Internal dash button / key fob all OK. Are they easy to replace, or could I have done something to make it inoperative..?
Thanks Team

Re: Boot button
The boot button has two wires; a Black/Pink one that goes to ground in the back right hand corner of the boot and a Red/White one that goes to the Security and Locking Control Module that is underneath the fuse box in the boot.
The switch itself could fail as could the SLCM, but either of these happening is much less likely than one or both of the two wires breaking through fatigue where they pass through the flexible conduit from the boot lid to the boot itself. That conduit can be disconnected from both the boot lid and the bodywork allowing the wires inside to be examined and then repaired in situ as required.
If you want to test the switch first, access is by removing the boot lid liner top half. That will let you undo the four nuts holding the chrome or painted trim containing the switch. The switch is held to the trim with two screws and a standard type wiring connector allows it to be removed completely and renewed if necessary

Re: Boot button
A word to the wise - be very careful when trying to undo the fastenings that hold the boot plinth. They will be rusted on and break very easily!
