XK (2009) Rear window heater

Postby ian.inglis919 » Sun Feb 16, 2020 8:55 pm

I fear the rear window heater on my 2009 XK convertible is not coming on...

I've checked the fuse (30A No.23) in the rear seat compartment fuse box and it's fine.

As there has previously been work done on the folding roof, I'm wondering if the connector to the rear screen heater has not been properly re-connected; (is this a known problem area?).
Is the connector at the side of the rear window half-way down; I think I can feel it through the lining? I have a dread feeling that it may be very difficult to access behind the convertible's roof lining (is this the case?).
Or has 10 years of opening and folding the roof bent/crimped the wiring? (is this a known problem).

Any help or advice gratefully received.

Thanks and Regards
Ian

The heated rear window is not a troublesome item with common faults. However, any item of wiring which has to allow for movement is bound to fatigue at some stage. Consequently, having established that power is available to the heated rear window, it would be advisable to start by checking for wiring continuity. Almost inevitably, that will mean stripping out the rear quarter panels to get to the wiring itself. Mike.
