I'm currently working through the restoration of this 1996 Coupe and it's time to address the fault codes. Is there a link anywhere to the code list for this model?
The codes showing are: P1637, P1638, P1643, C1165, C1175
Any help diagnosing the codes will be greatly appreciated. The car has been stuck in a barn for 8 years and is slowly coming back to life.
Jobs done so far: New fuel pump, new brake pipes, new Cats.....

Re: DTC Fault Codes
Neil,
Your first 3 codes relate to difficulties in the Canbus interpreting signals between various components, the TCM, ABS and the ECU etc.
The last 2 codes relate to faults seen on the rear wheel sensors.
So, all of the codes could relate to ABS signals and the Canbus handling the passage of the signals. As the car hasn't been used, it could be that there actually isn't anything wrong. Particularly if the battery voltage has ever dropped (which is quite possible).
My suggestion would be to ensure that you have a fully charged battery, then just clear all the codes and drive the car and see if any of them return.
Good luck
Paul

Re: DTC Fault Codes
I'd agree with Paul. That's just what I did with my XKR that has been sitting around for a similar amount of time. I put a new battery in, cleared all the codes and then waited to see what came back which thankfully was only a few but it still meant that I had to change a lambda sensor and the alternator.
Low voltage will throw out all sorts of spurious codes so better to start again.

Re: DTC Fault Codes
Thanks Guys
It did have a dead battery. I've fitted a new battery, cleared the codes and they all immediately returned. As you say the car probably needs a good drive to get everything communicating again. Presumably if there is a bit of corrosion around the rear wheel speed sensors this would cause the 'C' errors and maybe a drive would clear it.
As the car doesn't yet have an MOT - a crafty 'quick blast' is a bit tricky - but I'll see what I can do
