Adaptive CC not working. XK 2006

While the car was in the garage for another ( Alarm sounder) fault I asked them to change the ACC module for one I obtained from Ebay. It was from a Range Rover sport of the same era and physically identical. The Garge did this but no change and CC still not working.

They said the actual fault code said something like 'connection to module lost'. They thought this implied not an error with the module but that a wire or connection somewhere else had broken. All looked good and dry in the area of the module itself in drivers footwell RHS.

** In fact when I picked it up the fault is U0405-BF POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE - INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM SPEED CONTROL MODUULE - Erratic

They suggested further investigation would need a specialised Auto electrician. So I think it goes back into the 'not worth sorting it' box.
