hidden power supply plug

Hi all,

I am told that this plug, behind the glove box, top left, is a power source to be used for accessories. (see photo attached).

It seems to be clipped in to the panel above with a fir tree type fixing, but you can't get above it to squeeze the legs together. Also it is not in the easiest of places to get at!

I don't want to just monster it out as I would like to be able to clip it back in again afterwards.

Has anybody got any experience of this connector?

I have that accessory supply in use to power a fitted Garmin satnav and a double USB socket in the side of the glovebox. I treated it as a Gordian Knot problem; one single stroke with a sharp blade and it was free. Having fitted and connected everything, I used two or three small gauge zip ties to secure everything while leaving sufficient slack in the new harness to get the glovebox in and out easily in future.

If you want to 'replicate' the original firtree clip, something similar is widely available through Ebay as per

If you use the ignition switched option, check for a relay in the Trunk Fuse box - R6, the middle relay of the three that run in a line across the car (It's not always fitted) and Fuse F11, 10A

I managed to lever it out eventually with a broad flat screwdriver, but it wasted a lot of time!
All done now eventually.
I have fitted a dashcam with the supply cable running across the top of the screen, under the edge of the headlining, down the A pillar underneath the trim and down in to the area behind the dash so it is all hidden away.
The hardwire kit came with a selectable cut off switch so if the voltage drops below 12.2v it will turn the parking monitoring mode off.
