Engine Warning Light

Postby Zennan101 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 10:54 pm

A wet afternoon in Devon so finally got around to replacing and renewing my speedo cluster and dial cluster lights. I followed all the advice given and disconnected the battery throughout the disconnection and reconnection phase and although a bit of a fiddle the whole job was quite straightforward apart from having to reseat the electrical connectors once.
The lights all work now and it's great that I can now see the speedo in the dark!
Reset the window drops and pleased to see that the seat memory was untouched, just the trip Milagros lost.
The only down side is that now, the Sytems Check leaves the orange engine light illuminated.
Logic says that this is just an electrical glitch from the disconnection, reconnection, disconnection and reconnection of the battery.
My initial thought is to disconnect the battery for an hour to clear all error codes from the computer memory?
Any other suggestions?

a battery disconnect is always a code place to start to dump any stored codes, try this, if this fails, a scan is in order

Reset seems to have done the trick. Thanks Robv12 for the confirmation.
