Powerfold malfunction

The powerfold function on my car is giving me grief and I'd be interested to hear of others' experiences and, more importantly, how to fix it. Problem is that a brief backward flick of the joystick does fold 'em back, like it says on the tin, but another backward flick then folds 'em all the way forward - ie they don't stop at the normal, halfway, position. Ended up having to manhandle them into position which, according to the handbook at least is a no-no. Help.

It sounds rather like the internal plastic stops may have been damaged. If so, replacement mirrors will be the only permanent cure. Mike.
