head rest not working

Hi any advice on the this one the drivers side head rest is stuck in the down position the passenger one works fine when you move the seat back forward it lowers and rises when put back.

Drivers side head rest is stuck, cannot pull it up manually, did not want to pull to hard mind.

2001 model XKR

Anyone know if this is a common problem, don't want to go taking the seat apart until I know if it is fixable any suggestions on what checks I could make and how to access the wiring for the seat to check it. Have a volt meter to check circuits.

Hi Graham, Seat problems are not unknown but probably not a particularly common failing. Naturally, the driver's seat and backrest mechanisms get more use than the passenger's so it pays to look for broken/damaged wiring loom before pulling the seat to pieces to get at the motors etc. JTIS disks are readily available on eBay and these have diagrams of the seat internals which you might find useful.
