Dave,

The blue vision bulbs that I upgraded to also make a noticeable difference - but not as blue as I thought they would be - more a whiter light compared to the originals. As you say for the price well worth it and a simple job.

I have left my main beam for the moment - I wouldn't of thought it would be a MOT issue.

As far as I recall, the MoT requirement is for matching lights, side to side. So, 75W bulbs one side and 50W bulbs on the other would be a contravention. Jaguar fits HID dipped lights and halogen main beams, each with different colour characteristics so different types of dipped and main beams shouldn't be an issue. Mike.

Has anybody ever bought one of those HID conversion kits from e-bay or anywhere else and fitted the kit to the xk??? I mean the kit with the ballists/ wiring new bulbs (low beam) etc, and using the original headlamps etc??? anybody, Kevin. .

I fitted a (real) HID kit - the ones you see on ebay.

There are so many kits and they are nearly all the same...with different badges. The ones that are sold as Bosch obviously command the higher price.

Fitting? easy job...no wiring cuts or crimps, and no holes to mount the ballasts as there are holes under the headlamps you can use. It would be easier with the bumoper removed but can be done ok with moving the wheel arch liners.

Well worth the money!

Legality? well, your car "must" have power washers on the lights and headlamp auto levelers... so I would guess the answer is no - not legal.....

I would check the headlamp aim once done as it will have probably moved slightly higher.
